Soneium for Players: What's There and Where to Start

Soneium for a new player: why the dollars are USDC.e, which venues our quests read, what each step asks for and a calm order to take them in.

A vintage postcard on a royal blue background. The picture is a real DENSHIN quarter, a cruise ship in a neon harbor, and the stamp reads Soneium · 1868. Headline: Soneium for players, where to start.

Soneium is the far shore of our city: the network you reach by bridge, with its own venues and its own dollar. It holds 8 of the 33 Genesis quests and 390 of the season's 1,800 points.

This is the tour we'd give a friend before a first visit: why the dollars have a strange name, where the quests send you, and an order that keeps the first evening calm. Most of it holds for anyone landing on Soneium, quests or not.

What Soneium is, for a player#

Soneium is a separate network with its own ledger: same address as on Base, different balances. Nothing you hold on Base shows up here until you bring some across.

Three things to know before you start:

  • Chain ID 1868, the number your wallet knows it by.
  • Gas is ETH, as on Base, but ETH that crossed a bridge to get here.
  • The dollars are USDC.e, and that name is worth a minute.

Base first is the easier order. Soneium's quests assume you know what a swap check looks like, and your first swap for under ten cents is the gentle way to learn. Still, none of the eight quests here needs Base. For how the networks relate, see what an L2 is.

Why the dollars are called USDC.e#

Soneium has no dollar of its own. Every USDC in circulation there crossed a bridge to arrive, and the ".e" is the tell: a bridged version, not one issued natively on the network.

Two things follow. The dollar thresholds here are in USDC.e, so USDC sitting on Base doesn't count. And a bridged dollar carries the bridge's risk on top of the dollar's own, one more reason our quests ask for cents, not savings.

What's on the far shore#

Our Soneium quests read two exchanges, a lending market and a staking token:

  • Kyo, an exchange with two kinds of pools, classic v2 pools and concentrated liquidity. Both count for swaps, and Kyo is also where the season's deepest quest lives.
  • Uniswap v4. The season reads swaps there too.
  • Sake Finance, a lending market that follows the Aave v3 pattern. You supply USDC.e and get a receipt token, aUSDC.e, back.
  • wstASTR, Astar staked through a liquid wrapper, so the stake sits in your wallet as a token.

We don't run any of these, and they don't run our quests: the season just reads the chain. Nothing asks for an approval to DENSHIN, and nothing moves your funds.

An order that works#

Nothing on the map is locked and any order works, but some are calmer than others. This is the one our team would walk:

  1. Far Crossing, 20 points. Bring a little ETH across for gas. The calm walkthrough covers that first bridge step by step.
  2. Harbor Stamp, 20 points. Hold 0.10 USDC.e or more. Ten cents is enough: the point is a working account on the far shore, not a full one.
  3. Kyo Counter, 60 points. A swap of 0.10 USDC.e or more on Kyo. Getting your USDC.e with a swap on Kyo? Press Start on Kyo Counter first and make the swap a bit more than ten cents. A swap made before Start never counts.
  4. Harbor Rounds, 30 points, and Long Haul, 60 points. One more swap on Soneium, then a swap of 0.25 USDC.e or more. Each needs its own swap: a transaction accepted as proof is used once, ever. The task card names the venue it expects, so follow it.
  5. Sake Cellar, 60 points. Supply USDC.e to Sake Finance and keep 0.10 aUSDC.e or more. The check reads that receipt, so withdraw before the quest is closed and it can't be. New to receipts? What a lending deposit actually is explains them with Aave on Base.
  6. Astar Line, 20 points. Hold 1 wstASTR or more. Mind the unit: one whole token, not ten cents' worth, so the cost depends on its price that day. Look before you buy.
  7. Harbor Berth, 120 points, last. Hold a concentrated-liquidity position on Kyo; the check reads that you own it. It's the hardest single quest on Soneium and the best paid, and it goes last for a reason: providing liquidity is a different act from trading. The position stays, and so does the exposure.

Swap quests count from the moment you press Start. Holding quests read what you hold when you press Verify, so an old balance counts too. Either way, only your main wallet is read. Keep each position until its quest is closed; after that, it's yours to keep or move.

What it costs, roughly#

A transaction costs fractions of a cent, and the dollar thresholds on this shore are ten and twenty-five cents. The holding quests spend nothing: the USDC.e and the deposit stay in your name. The swaps cost a small pool fee plus gas, and you come out holding the other token.

Two asks aren't priced in cents: Astar Line's one wstASTR and Harbor Berth's position. Those are the two to size for yourself. The amounts in this guide are quest minimums, not a suggestion of what to buy or hold.

The honest risks#

  • Liquidity exposure. A concentrated-liquidity position covers a price range. As the price moves, the token mix inside it shifts, and outside the range it ends up all in one token. Put in only what you're fine leaving exposed.
  • Bridge waits. A crossing takes a little time. "Pending" means in transit, not lost, so don't send twice.
  • Gas. Keep a little ETH on Soneium after the quests. Without it the wallet can't do anything there, not even move its USDC.e.
  • Contracts and copies. Your deposit and position sit in smart contracts, and no contract is free of risk. Open venues from the quest or your own bookmark, and take USDC.e from the venue's token list, not from an address sent in a chat. Approvals go to the exchange or the lending market, never to us.

In our city#

Each of these eight quests stands on its own quarter of the map and holds a small cluster of quarters, two or three in most cases, its own among them. Finish the quest and the seal on that cluster lifts: those quarters open on your map for the rest of the season.

The ETH you keep here has one more use: the daily Denshin Sync runs on Soneium too, for a fraction of a cent in gas. It sends no value and asks for no approval.

Try it#

Every quest above, and what its check reads, is on the Soneium page of our docs. Then open app.denshin.io, find Far Crossing among the Soneium quests and press Start. Genesis runs until 31 October: room enough to take the far shore one quest at a time.
